- [Instructor] Let's continue working on our Ovens of Cappoquin piece by adding some basic effects. I'm going to load the pre-effects sequence here. And I'd like to start by talking about adding transition effects, okay, so that's basically an effect that you place at a cut point. Far and away the most common transition effect is the dissolve and I just want to show you the keyboard shortcut for adding a dissolve. If I click on the edge of a clip and then I press shift + D, then a cross dissolve will be added. Okay, so I'll just play over this so you can see what that looks like. Okay, so by default that is a 30 frame cross dissolve. If you'd ever like to change the duration of your default transition effect, you can come up to Premiere Pro and then preferences, this is under the edit menu on a PC. And then timeline.
