- I've mentioned a few times that videos that have captions or transcripts really perform a lot better. This is because they're easier to discover. But they're also more engaging, and more people can get the information, so they tend to stay on the page longer. Accessible videos are essentially more indexable. Now, video takes longer to produce than web content, so it tends to be rated higher in Google searches due to the increased production time. It's often deemed as more relevant. Plus, video is often spotlighted in Google searches, particularly YouTube videos. So videos that are on YouTube might appear higher on a page just because Google features them earlier in the search process. People will tend to spend more time on sites that have video, so video increases the time on the page. And, videos with captions tend to have people stay even longer.
