Adjusting focus for the background

- Photoshop has some amazing tools for adjusting depth of field and that's really allowing us to defocus the backdrop. In this particular case, the subject is in focus and the buildings behind her are in focus. That's graphically, kind of impossible. - [Abba] Yeah, I mean, it looks like we were shooting at like F22, and I don't want that. I also want the fact that the background is softer. It really pulls our attention to the person, to the model. - All right. - [Abba] So, I think we need to soften the background, but we need to do it gradually, because we're creating depth of field. - [Richard] All right, so, let's duplicate that background so we have a second copy. This way, if we change our mind, we can tweak it. And we'll just call that background blurred. And now, we need to make that gradual selection, so we'll press Q for quick mask and G for gradient and we just need to drag a gradient out, Abba. So, you're…
