Building a shooting schedule
- Now we're getting into the more tactical stage where we actually need to turn this into a shooting schedule. Remember, unlike Hollywood productions, most video crews working on commercials are not going to be doing several days or months with you. As such, they're gonna have stronger expectations in the length of their day. You're gonna have maybe an eight hour day or a 10 hour day or you can get into some pretty high overtime rates as you're working with crews. You need to go in with a strong plan because you can burn through your budget very quickly if you don't have a good schedule. Now, this is a little bit of kettle-black here because, as a director, the director is always pushing the schedule out and shooting longer and falling off schedule, which is why I'm going to let the producer, whose job it is to actually keep everything in tight, tell you a little bit about how she approaches it. - I call this the producer's baby because this is how we keep the budget, all the people…
