Considerations when going live
- So far, you've learned a lot about multi-camera production. But, if you're going to be tackling a live multi-cam production, there's a few extra things you need to think about. First up, you're not going to be able to rely upon post to fix problems. This means that you need to make sure that all the cameras are well-matched for both color and exposure. You're not going to want to have any variations between the angles, because if one feels a bit darker than the other, as you cut between it'll feel unprofessional or could be jarring. You're also going to need to convey to your crew that they could be live at any point in time. Now, we've learned about headsets and being able to communicate with the crew. But if you're doing a true live production, as the director, if you're sitting at a switcher or if you're working with a technical director, you might need to provide camera cues to people through a headset system, letting them know when you're about to take their camera or make it…
