- Okay, I wanna play a few games with you, not just for the sake of playing games, although, of course, playing games is kinda fun from time to time, but rather, to show you how your mind is constantly playing tricks on you when it comes to what you're looking at, and how those tricks can ultimately affect how you color a project. Here, I have a famous checkerboard illusion. This illusion was created by Edward Adelson, who is a professor of vision science at M-I-T. On this checkerboard, you can see that I have two squares, one labeled A, this one right here, and then one labeled B. On the checkerboard, I also have this cylinder that appears to be casting a shadow over square B here. Now, what I want you to pay attention to is the qualities of A and B. At least to me, A seems like a darker gray than square B. So A appears to be a little darker to me than B, but is that what's really happening?
