- [Instructor] As we've said, video technology and codecs, they are always changing, and for quite a few years now, the gold standard has been H.264 in the MPEG4 container. Well, the new one on the horizon is H.265, or HEVC video, that's High-Efficiency Video Codec. So, this should all make sense. This is a newer algorithm that's able to encode high quality video more efficiency. Using less data for the same quality. Well that sounds great, and it is, but like all things that are in flux, the thing you have to be careful about here is that the devices and the users that you're video is going out to will actually support this new codec. Um, the way to find that out is simply to do some market research. And for the most part, if things are going out onto the web in general, you may want to work at the previous standard, H.264.
