- Let's talk about some of the most essential equipment that was necessary for the creation of this commercial. Now I'll also address some specifics as we get into each scene as well. For this particular spot, we shot this on a Canon 5D Mark 2. This was before the release of the Mark 3. To supplement our camera package it was essential that the director of photography had an electronic view finder. This allowed him to easily check focus and exposure with critical accuracy. Lens wise we stuck with good Canon L glass. Now a lot of times I prefer to use digital cinema type work flows but in this particular case we just needed the flexibility of the zoom. We were moving so much through the location that it was necessary to be able to quickly compose the shots so we chose the flexibility of using a zoom lens over a prime.
