Exercise files

- If your membership includes it, there are exercise files that you can download to follow along with this course. Here in my system, I've already downloaded the exercise files.zip to my desktop. And then unzipped it to this folder right here, called exercise files. If I open that up there are two sub-folders inside of the exercise files folder itself. The first one is called color for video editors.dra. What's a D-R-A? Well DRA is a DaVinci Resolve archive. Throughout this course we'll be using DaVinci Resolve as the main tool I use to show practical examples. Why DaVinici Resolve? Well first, DaVinci Resolve is pretty much the most popular color correction tool in the world. But over the past few years, it's also become a robust editorial, audio, and compositing tool. And best of all, it's free. It's a free download from the Black Magic website. Now if you're using another NLE, such as Adobe Premier Pro or Apple's Phonica Pro. Don't worry, in this XML folder I provided two XMLs of the main timelines that we'll be using in this title. You can import these XMLs into your own NLE and then re-link to the media that's used in this course. Where's the media? Well that's really simple. If I step back a level and go into the DRA folder. There's a folder called media files right here and this folder contains all of the media used in the practical sections of this course. If you are using DaVinci Resolve though, getting this DRA imported is very simple. I'm simply gonna switch over to DaVinci Resolve and here in my project manager, I'm gonna right click in the gray area and choose restore I don't wanna choose import, but rather restore is the proper command for restoring an archive. So I'll click restore. I'll navigate to my desktop, exercise files, and simply select color for video editors.dra and choose open. In just a moment the archive will be restored into my current database. Don't worry about this media offline thumbnail, if you double-click to go into the project, all of the media should be reconnected. And throughout the practical chapters where we're in DaVinci Resolve in this title. I'll direct you to the proper clip and the proper timeline. Just remember that all the media used in the course are for educational purposes only. Please don't distribute or use the clips for commercial purposes. Now if you're new to DaVinci Resolve, don't worry. The online training library contains many titles that can quickly get you up to speed with this powerful tool.
