Fixing color and exposure problems in video with Premiere Pro

- Hi, my name is Rich Harrington and welcome to this course where we'll explore fixing color and exposure using Adobe Premiere Pro. This course will serve as an introduction to both color correction and color grading and we'll move through a variety of skills from both the beginner all the way up to an advanced level. So, no matter what your background, you should get something out of this course. This course is broken up into certain sections to really help you solve different problems. If at all possible, I'd strongly encourage you to watch the course in a linear fashion, from beginning to end, but, I have organized the course to teach you different skills. Up first, we'll talk about evaluating and adjusting images. You'll learn about setting up a color correction workspace, as well as, how to read the scopes. If you don't understand scopes, these are a critical component as you start to work with color, they help you see what's wrong and make the right decisions. Next, we'll explore making basic color corrections using the Lumetri effect. This will include things like fixing white balance, general exposure corrections, and getting an overall good clean image to start with. Once that's done, we'll move on to creative color correction or color grading. The idea, here, is to really enhance the look of the video and bring out a feeling or an emotion. We'll then move on to really finessing color using curves. The Lumetri effect has some very powerful curves, several in fact, that targets specific areas making it easy to make an adjustment without having to rely on masks or tracking. We'll then explore some additional secondary color corrections strategies targeting specific areas for additional enhancement or emphasis. Once you've started to build up several different effects, it's important that you know how to manage the Lumetri effect, how to rename it so, it's easier to understand, what multiple instances are doing, how to save presets, or even how to create more look-up tables for future use. And because the Lumetri effect can't do everything, we'll explore a few specific other effects, many of them legacy effects that can be useful to solve certain problems. We'll take a look at things like levels, stabilizing color with the color stabilizer to deal with changes over time, and talk about neutralizing color cast. Additionally, you'll learn about key framing an effect. This is quite useful if a shot moves from indoors to out, or with panning shots where the background is changing. This way you can compensate for exposure changes or color changes over time. Then, we'll talk about raw video and how, if you access to this higher quality format, it really unlocks a great deal of flexibility. Finally, we'll explore legalizing for broadcast, making sure that you signal is proper before you deliver for broadcast. And even if you're not broadcasting, legalizing is still a good idea before encoding for the web in order to get consistent results. Okay, we've got a lot of ground to cover, so, let's begin.
