Fixing underexposed footage

- In the previous example, we fixed an over-exposed shot using blending modes, but the same technique can be used for an under-exposed shot as well. Let's open up the next sequence, and you'll see that the footage is a little bit dark. Holding down the alt or option key, I'll drag a copy above. With that copy selected, from the blend mode section of opacity, I'll choose Screen. This will brighten things up. You can adjust the opacity to taste. You'll notice in this case, that the darker areas are brightened, but the whole shot isn't affected, rather it's more aggressive for the darker areas. Toggling that on and off, you see you get a good base exposure. Remember, you could, of course, apply an adjustment layer here too. So once you've done the basic adjustment, just toss on an adjustment layer, and drag that on top of the shot. There we go. You can trim that to any size you need to affect the duration, and then simply grab the basic controls of the Lumetri panel, allowing you to take…
