- I mentioned in the previous movie color is all about possibilities and that there's no right or wrong. But learning how to take client direction is an important aspect of becoming better with color in your own projects. The thing about it is that clients say a lot of really interesting things in sometimes not very useful ways. They'll they things like, "Can you make this shot pop?" or "This shot just doesn't feel right," or "I want this shot to have more texture." Those phrases and those words don't often relate directly to adjusting a particular control in your color corrections software. They're very obtuse. Part of your job working in color on any project is to play the role of a post-production psychologist. You need to try to figure out what a client is saying to you and interpret that into actionable things that you do with the controls that ultimately affect the picture onscreen.
