Keep your title safe

- [Narrator] So, currently, I'm in my Chapter 2_2 project which is a Premiere Pro project and if you have Premiere Pro, feel free to follow along. We're gonna talk about the importance of title safe. Now, not all television screens are made alike. While you might be exporting for the web, you will be able to see your entire video, but certain televisions whether it be HD or SD perform cropping on your video and the one thing that you wanna make sure is that your viewer is gonna be able to see the title on any format that you export to. In Premiere Pro, to be able to see if your title is within an appropriate safe zone for multiple exports, what you wanna do is either in the Program monitor or inside your Source monitor, there's a Wrench menu which will lead you to your settings and under your settings, at the very close to the bottom, you'll see that there are options for safe margins. Safe margins include two boundary boxes. The outermost box is what's referred to as action safe while the innermost boxes refer to as title safe. As long as your title remains within this innermost box, this will be seen on a majority of television screens as well as when you export to the web. Now, the controls to this and when I think about title safe, you also wanna think about is your title legible, which we've talked about in previous movies and if you're centering your title to make sure that it's absolutely centered. Premiere Pro has introduced some new tools, specifically in the Essential Graphics panel which make this easier to do and you can find this under the Align and Transform settings, under the Edit tab of the Essential Graphics panel, so these two are tools, in particular, which deal with horizontal center alignment combined with a vertical center alignment. If you ever have to place your title in the middle of the screen, these are two great buttons that you can press. Now, options expand when you go to Motion Graphic applications whether it be on an Apple platform or on Adobe and just to do a quick show of something here inside of After Effects; now, you don't have a project to follow along, so just keep in mind that you can just watch this. Under this little setting here which is under your Composition settings, you have additional options for title and action safe. Commonly, people who are producing motion graphics might be doing it for a variety of different formats. You can see anything from here in terms of a 4:3 aspect ration to a 16:9 to even film type aspect ratios, which can be extremely, extremely helpful. When it comes to centering your type, you wanna go to the Align panel in Adobe After Effects. This Align panel will allow you to take any layer that is selected and based on that selection; let me just select this first layer here; you can also choose to align horizontally and align vertically to ensure that your text is gonna be directly in the center of the screen. I'm just pressing Command + Z on my Mac to undo that or CTRL + Z on a PC and that is how you make sure that your title is safe to view on multiple platforms inside the Adobe Ecosystem.
