Logging details during the shoot

- During the shoot, it's important to capture some details. Now, if you're directing, this can be very difficult. Sometimes I'll keep basic notes while I'm shooting, but I generally rely upon the producer or a script supervisor to log notes. You need to keep track of some pretty important things. First up, performance notes. You need to know which takes were best. Chances are, with a multi-camera production, you're gonna run it through a few times, and you might even combine different parts together. By running it multiple times, maybe you love the intro from one segment, and then the middle was really good, and you take the outro from the third take. This isn't uncommon. With a multi-camera production, because you can cut to different angles, it's often very easy to combine multiple takes together. Another thing that you need to log are technical issues.
