Neutralizing color with the CC Color Neutralizer in After Effects

- Another color effect that's only in Premiere Pro is the ability to neutralize colorcast. This is quite useful if you have a strong colorcast particularly with underwater footage, or in really tough lighting conditions. To take advantage of it is pretty simple. Just select the shot and then with the right click choose replace with after effects composition. You may recall that we made a earlier project when we sent over our first clip, there it is. All right, let's go ahead and fit this. What we want to take advantage of is the neutralizer. So I'll go under color correction, and I'll choose cc color neutralizer. Now what we want to do is choose the targets. I'll set and pick the white point. And now the shadow. And then a middle tone. And you see with three quick eyedroppers it's done a nice job of neutralizing the colorcast. Now, you can still tweak this with sliders but the eyedroppers work pretty well. If you need to you can blend it back with the original if you feel it's a bit to strong. And under the special controls here you can also see what's being shifted. By viewing the mask here you see the change or the stair you can tell how the curves had been effected, a small change but it works. Additionally, you could tweak the white point and the black point, this allows you to make a small shift if needed. All right, that looks quite good. Remember while you're here you still have the lumetri color effect. Now the interface isn't quite as pretty as Premiere Pro, but everything's still there. So you can simply pop the contrast, and recover the highlights a little bit, bring up the white point. And from the creative section let's roll in a little bit of vibrancy. Hit save, and I'll just hit preview really quick see that, it's a nice quick effect. It looks good on the slow motion shot. Switch back over to Premiere. And the effect is handed off, there it is. If we take a look at that you see it does a nice job of removing the overall colorcast.
