Organizing the footage for edit

- The first thing we do when footage comes back is make sure it's backed up in at least two places. We then also make sure it's on our edit drive and bring it into a non-linear editor. In this case, Premier Pro. Within Premier Pro we organize it, add descriptions, markers, and refer to the producer's shoot notes. After the footage is all organized I usually string out the best takes for each scene so I have them for easy reference to show the producer, client, or director. I then start going through the scenes block by block, choosing what I think the best takes are to form a rough cut. A rough cut is the first assembly of the piece as a whole. It usually doesn't have all the bells and whistles like color correction and audio mixing but we put it together to show the client, producer, and director how the piece might work as a whole. - So for this PSA we did a couple of things. We did lower thirds throughout with explanatory text and then we also did screen replacement for a webpage…
