Overview of the interface

- Before we dive in to making outputs, I just wanted to take a look at the Adobe Media Encoder interface so you know where the different pieces and parts are. So like many Adobe applications, you have separate panels here. In particular you have the queue, and this is an important panel because this is where you're going to see all of your media jobs lined up, that's both the files that are being encoded and the settings that they're being encoded to. So as I move my way around, down below you see that there is an encoding panel. There's nothing there now because what that does is it shows you the progress when a job is being encoded. So right now it's blank. Moving across, you have our presets browser. This is where all of the different presets are stored, including ones that you make and save for custom. And then finally we have a media browser, which is very similar to the media browser in Premier Pro, this is just another way to navigate your drives and your files to find things that you want to import into the program, to then make outputs. Before we go I wanna point out a few things, which is that throughout Encoder, when you see this sort of blue underlined highlight, it does mean it's clickable like a link, and if you click one of these, what you'll see is we get the details of the export settings. So these are the settings associated with that particular job, and this is where a lot of the power is. So you can do things here like set in and out points for a partial export, and you have all of your detailed controls that we will get into over the course of this course. Now that we've gotten an idea of where things are located, it's gonna be easier to navigate around as we start to make our outputs and learn more about the program.
