Performing a test key from your camera’s card

- One strategy that I am a huge proponent of, is getting it right when you're shooting. A lot of people say, "fix it in post", but that's a lot more expensive than shooting it correctly. As such, I frequently find myself on set. Sometimes it's because I'm directing, and other times it's because I'm there as an editor. What you're going to want to do, is make sure on set that the footage is ready to key. And fortunately, premier pro does a great job of working with media files. This means that you could often just pop in a memory card, maybe to an SD card slot or using a dedicated card reader, and perform a test key without even having to go ahead and permanently import the footage. Here's how. Remember, when using your media browser, it's very easy to browse directly to a memory card. In this case, I've simulated this with a disc image, but you would be able to quickly grab and find a clip, and just import that into your project. This will add it quite easily to the project.
