Recording to an external recorder

- Inside a DSLR or mirrorless camera, you're typically writing to a compact flash card or an SD memory card. But if we go to an external recorder we can use SSD storage. Matt, what's the benefit there? - Well there's two benefits Rich. So the first, is that typically with an SSD recorder, or external recorder like that, we're going to get much higher data rates, meaning you're going to get much higher quality video, you make your keys a lot cleaner, it's going to be a lot easier to deal with, and get a lot better look. - And we also have a backup recording here if something goes wrong. - Exactly, and that is super important to have on set, because you don't want to be doing something and then potentially have a card get corrupted or something like that happen, having a backup is always a great idea. - But there's a few things you need to do to make sure you're ready.
