Refining the edit

- Okay, we've laid in the foundation of our tense scene. Now it's time to refine. We've already gone through this process twice before, once for the happy scene and once for the sad scene, so we're pretty comfortable with how to do this. But just to remind you, here's our basic order of operations. We're first going to go through and add some much needed cutaway shots to really help build the tension between these characters. There are several places where we can cut to a sheepish grin or an eye roll or a nervous laugh, and that will help give our audience more information and greater connection to these characters. And once we've done that, we'll trim the shots so the timing is just right. And finally, we'll add our split edits to make sure that we've got some good visual rhythm and so that we're seeing the right juxtaposition of who's talking and who's responding.
