- Sometimes as you work, you might decide that you want to preserve flexibility for later. If you've already keyed footage, you can actually render that transparency data in and store it inside the movie. This'll make it that much easier when you need to go ahead back to an editorial program or reuse a shot in the future that the transparency is actually baked in. Let me show you. Now we've opened up a project in After Effects, and previously I had keyed my subject over a backdrop. But perhaps I want to save this as a video file with embedded transparency. Well, this is pretty easy to do in After Effects. If you want to see the traditional transparency grid, just click the checkered box here, and you'll see the grid inserted. That makes it easier to judge. You might want to punch in to 100% and just check your edges. You can hold down the spacebar to get the Hand tool and navigate through. But look at your document, and make sure you're satisfied with the overall transparency. If you…
