- [Narrator] Previously I showed you my system for reviewing raw footage and taking notes as I prep for the edit using CamRolls. In this lesson, I'm going to show you a slightly different approach to reviewing and organizing your dailies, it's called a Selects Reel. Think of it this way. Editing a scene with CamRolls is like choosing each individual piece of lumber first and slowly building your house from the ground-up. Editing a scene with a Selects Reel is like starting with a redwood tree, and whittling it down into a pencil. I prefer to use CamRolls, because it allows me to become more familiar with the material in the scene that I'm cutting, because I'm forced to continually roll through raw dailies. But many editors, especially those that work in the comedy world, prefers the Selects Reel process, because they can more quickly compare performances in different takes and camera setups.
