Shooting point-of-view (POV) shots

One of your primary goals when crafting stories for video is to let your viewers feel what it's like to be in your stories. Point-of-view shots go a long way to promoting that feeling. Point-of-view, or POV, shots show what a character or some other object sees. Typically, POV shots are edited in with non- POV shots. Usually a person or object sets off in motion, then you cut to the POV shot. We did three POV scenes for this course. I think you'll find each one fascinating, especially the one where you get to be a Golden Retriever. The first POV scene we did at lynda.com. We showed some mail delivery to folks in the cubicles. We shot it from several angles to give you a sense of how the process works. We took two approaches: having the camera look forward and then to the side. I liked the side view.
