Shot reverse shot

- Shot reverse shot is a film technique usually used in a dialogue scene where two characters are shown looking at one another through a series of classically composed shots. That is shot A shows character A looking at character B usually off screen or over the shoulder, and then shot B shows character B looking back at character A also off screen or over the shoulder. Typically there are at least three camera angles that make up a scene. First there's a two shot that captures both characters in frame together. There are many different ways a two shot can be composed, but in an American two shot for example, they face one another in profile. Then there's the close up of Character A, and the close up of Character B which make up the shot reverse shot portion of the exchange. During actual filming, the two-shot is usually captured first, then Character A's closeup, then Character B's closeup. These closeups are then…
