- So, now that we understand what sample rate and bit depth is, how do we correlate that into our daily workflow of record, and then delivery of audio? And, so let's just start with record. Basically, never record under 16-bit 44.1K audio. That is because that gives you enough samples for the dynamic range of, say, the human voice, or a orchestra. The human voice is actually a very wide dynamic range of -50 hertz all the way up to eight, nine, ten kilohertz. So, even though it's concentrated in, like, 2K, that being said, don't accept a MP3 of the voice. Always record at .WAV or AIFF for 44.1 or 16-bit or above, for voice or music or anything. If on your camera, or because you're running out of space on your cards, you need to drop down, really consider hard what you're doing and what you're recording before you do that. Anything below 16-bit, say, going down to 8-bit audio, you'll start getting a lot of hissing, and a lot of noise, and digital artifacting into your sound. So, that's…
