Switching the feed live with hardware
- If you're going to do a multi-camera production, you're going to need to switch between multiple angles. This is going to require a production switcher. There are many different manufacturers out there that make these, from older traditional ones that were just pieces of hardware that had physical inputs to something here that's sort of a hybrid that uses a computer but some hardware devices. In my studio, we have a production switcher from a company called Black Magic Design, but again, there are many different alternatives out there that you can try, and in just a moment, I'll even show you how you can use a laptop and some capture devices to do the same thing. Now ultimately what happens in the environment is that different angles are going to be running into your switcher. In this case, we're on location in the studio and I've got three cameras hooked up.
