- Now Jim, once the production's done, we gotta move into post-production, but I think one of the problems I often experience is poor communication from the set to the edit suite. As the director of photography, what's some of the information that you wanna make sure gets conveyed to the editor so they have an easier time putting all these pieces together? - There is a good amount of autonomy in the edit room, but there are things that are helpful. Now, if the story people and the production people are doing their jobs, they've probably taken some pretty good notes about when things happen in the story, which cameras were on the best thing, the inserts, whatever. So a lot of that stuff is being taken care of through the production folks. Where it's helpful for post, from my perspective, is when I can supply them with some tech specs and some creative specs related to tech with the cameras, and a lot of that has to do with scene files and how the cameras were shaded, what kind of…
