Type crimes
- [Instructor] So as it comes to type crimes, you're staring at a really big one, right in front of you, right now. And this happens to be something that people refer to as dumb quotes. And this is a standard that you might enter for a quote when you type in your shift key, and actually put the inches symbol, rather than the quote symbol, on certain computers. Now on certain fonts, the Mac OS tries to correct you automatically by putting smart quotes, or the curly quotes, instead of these dumb quotes. In the case that it doesn't, there is a set of shortcut keys that you should use. I'm just gonna show you down here what they look like, but ideally, this is what you'd like to have there when you're creating your quotes, your smart quotes. So the one thing that you wanna make sure is to have curly quotes in this instance, and this can be done using some shortcut keys on both Mac and PCs that allow for these smart, curly quotes inside your video pieces.
