Types of compression

- Not all codecs are created equal. Some are better than others. Some are very common, and some are less common. So what codec should you use? Ultimately, the codec that you use will depend on what you want to do with the video. For example, if you are distributing your video through the internet, then you may want to use a codec that most people will have available in their computers. That codec will need to keep the quality high and will have to compress the video to a small enough file size that it will download quickly. While there are different codecs that you can choose from, I recommend H.264. At the time of this recording, H.265, or HEVC, is not widely available in all systems. Please keep in mind that the choice of codec will ultimately define the quality of your output, so this is a decision not to be taken lightly.
