Understanding hearing impairment

- The other most common block to accessibility is hearing impairment. Let's talk a little bit about those who have difficulty hearing or cannot hear at all. In regards to hearing impairment, it's really defined as a partial or total inability to hear sound. A deaf person has little to no hearing. Hearing loss can be either temporary or permanent. There are medical conditions and infections that can temporarily cause deafness or make it difficult to hear. For example, an infection of the ear can cause blockage creating someone's temporary inability to hear. If left untreated, it can create permanent damage that can cause a loss of hearing. Also, age or other factors such as caused at birth can be a cause of deafness. Hearing loss can be caused by a number of different factors. Some of them permanent, some of them temporary. Things such as genetics and aging tend to lead to permanent conditions. However, exposure to really loud noises can lead to temporary or hearing loss. Some…
