- Now that you've gotten a taste at how After Effects works, let's dig in and fully explore Keylight. Keylight is an Academy Award-winning keyer that was licensed from a third-party company. In fact, you can find additional information over at the Foundry's website, including rich documentation about each feature. But let's go in and take a look at the key features here. I've opened up a new project that's been set up to make this a bit easier. Let's start with 4,3, which is labeled Keylight. In this case, I've got a shot layered over a backdrop. Select the individual clip, and over in Effects and Presets, type in Key. One of the first things I recommend is consider the blue or green blur. This makes it easy to apply to the clip, and will put a slight blur on just the green channel. If you take a look at those channels individually, what this does is helps remove noise from the green channel, giving you a cleaner background. Let's switch back to the RGB view there.
