Using the exercise files

- Go ahead and download the exercise files and after you do so, if you need to, unzip 'em. You will have, then, a folder named Premier Pro Guru Compression. You can put this folder wherever you need in your system, but I will put mine on the desktop. If you open the folder you will notice that in there we have a Premier Pro project file and then there are folders that contain the media used in this project. So let's go ahead and open the Premier Pro project. It's of course inside of the folder and here it is. I'm just going to double click it to open it up. If you get a warning message stating that the project was saved using Mercury Playback GPU Acceleration, all you have to do is click OK. In my system, and let me show you, File, Project Settings, General, I'm actually using an NVIDIA card, so the Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration is CUDA. Now, you can check what you have and whether it's compatible or not, you're still going to enjoy the Mercury Playback Acceleration even if it's software only. So let's go ahead and click OK, so you can always confiture this Mercury Playback Engine settings later on in the panel that we just saw. After you click on that, your project should look a lot like mine. Now, let's look at the project panel. In here, I am showing the preview area. If you click on the project panel menu, you can either turn it off or on. I have it on. I'm just going to shut it off now, and we have in here three different bins, the caption bin, the media bin, and the sequences. In the captions bin, I only have one set of captions. In the media bin I have audio and video, and of course, the sequences I have chapter two, three, and four and if you expand either one of these, you're going to see the name of the chapters and whenever we go through those chapters, we're going to refer to those by name. For example, if I am in chapter 2.1, Formats and Presets, I might say just go ahead and open sequence 2.1, Formats and Presets and that just means come here and double click it, and there you go. It's now open. Please keep in mind that your sequences may look differently than mine. The interface may also look different. This is because your screen resolution might not match the one that I'm using for the recording. I am also using an editing workspace. I want to remind you that these files are for educational purposes only. Do not use them in your personal or commercial work. This is the only project needed for this title. Please keep in mind that these files are not original media and they have been compressed so that your download time is short.
