You'll download a compress zip file You'll download a compress zip file and when you unzip the file, you'll see a folder and when you unzip the file, you'll see a folder labeled exercise files. labeled exercise files. Now first thing first, it's important that you know Now first thing first, it's important that you know what version of PremierePro you've got what version of PremierePro you've got so that you're working with the right course so that you're working with the right course and the right exercise files. and the right exercise files. This training was created using the Adobe PremierePro This training was created using the Adobe PremierePro Creative Cloud 2018.1 version of the software Creative Cloud 2018.1 version of the software also called 12.1. also called 12.1. So these exercise files will work So these exercise files will work if you're running version 12.1 or later. if you're running version 12.1 or later. If you're running a prior version of PremierePro, If you're running a prior version of PremierePro, you should either access the correctly versioned you should either access the correctly versioned PremierePro training within our library PremierePro training within our library or just upgrade your software so that or just upgrade your software so that you can take this training and use these exercise files. you can take this training and use these exercise files. Now I go over all of this in much more detail Now I go over all of this in much more detail in the next movie on PremierePro versioning issues in the next movie on PremierePro versioning issues so please check that out for more info. so please check that out for more info. Alright, so let's take a look at these exercise files. Alright, so let's take a look at these exercise files. If you open up the folder, you'll see two folders inside, If you open up the folder, you'll see two folders inside, media and project. media and project. In the project folder is the actual project file In the project folder is the actual project file that we will be using to follow along, step by step that we will be using to follow along, step by step in this course. in this course. The media folder contains all of the media The media folder contains all of the media that the project is pointing to. that the project is pointing to. So you can see that in the media folder you've got So you can see that in the media folder you've got folders and you've also got folders within folders. folders and you've also got folders within folders. Everything's very well organized Everything's very well organized but it's very important that you don't actually but it's very important that you don't actually touch or move anything touch or move anything because that can break the connection because that can break the connection between the project file and the media. between the project file and the media. So the only thing you have to do So the only thing you have to do in order to launch the project is double click in order to launch the project is double click right on this project file and your software will open. right on this project file and your software will open. So I'm just going to double click on Donut Dynamite So I'm just going to double click on Donut Dynamite and as this does launch, I do want to mention and as this does launch, I do want to mention that this is a dual platform training. that this is a dual platform training. I'll be working on a Mac but because many of you I'll be working on a Mac but because many of you will be on a PC, I'll be calling out will be on a PC, I'll be calling out both Mac and PC shortcut commands both Mac and PC shortcut commands and we'll have graphic overlays on screen and we'll have graphic overlays on screen to direct you to the right command throughout this training. to direct you to the right command throughout this training. Okay, so I'm at the start screen here Okay, so I'm at the start screen here and it's very likely that you'll first need and it's very likely that you'll first need to link your media. to link your media. And basically this step is where you tell PremierePro And basically this step is where you tell PremierePro where it needs to locate that media where it needs to locate that media that we were just looking at. that we were just looking at. Alright, so I'm going to first just make sure Alright, so I'm going to first just make sure that this box is checked. that this box is checked. Relink others automatically. Relink others automatically. This means that all I need to do is find This means that all I need to do is find one media and everything else within that folder hierarchy one media and everything else within that folder hierarchy will be found. will be found. So that's checked and now I choose locate. So that's checked and now I choose locate. Alright, so locate file dialogue box comes up Alright, so locate file dialogue box comes up and it shows me exactly what file it's looking for. and it shows me exactly what file it's looking for. I'm going to go to my exercise files in the media I'm going to go to my exercise files in the media and this will tell PremierePro where it needs to look. and this will tell PremierePro where it needs to look. Specifically, I could go a little bit further. Specifically, I could go a little bit further. You can see that inside media is Beol You can see that inside media is Beol and then beauty shots and then here's the specific file. and then beauty shots and then here's the specific file. But really all you need to do is click on media But really all you need to do is click on media and then search and then it will find that. and then search and then it will find that. So you can see that it has found my file Show Off Donuts So you can see that it has found my file Show Off Donuts and if I select this and say OK, you can see it's located and if I select this and say OK, you can see it's located my media and everything is brought online. my media and everything is brought online. Now if for some reason it finds some of the files Now if for some reason it finds some of the files but not all, just repeat the process but not all, just repeat the process but burrow into more specific folders. but burrow into more specific folders. Once inside the project, you'll see an assets bin Once inside the project, you'll see an assets bin at the top and the clips inside of here at the top and the clips inside of here are all pointing to that media in the media folder are all pointing to that media in the media folder that we just looked at. that we just looked at. So everything here should look pretty familiar. So everything here should look pretty familiar. This bin hierarchy is identical to the folder This bin hierarchy is identical to the folder hierarchy that we just saw. hierarchy that we just saw. And sometimes you'll be in the assets bin And sometimes you'll be in the assets bin but most of the time, you'll be working but most of the time, you'll be working in the exercise files bin. in the exercise files bin. Starting with chapter four and moving on throughout Starting with chapter four and moving on throughout the entire training, you're going to be following the entire training, you're going to be following movie by movie and everything contained within each movie by movie and everything contained within each of these bins has everything you need for any given movie. of these bins has everything you need for any given movie. So the fifth movie in chapter four for example, So the fifth movie in chapter four for example, contains everything you would need for that specific movie. contains everything you would need for that specific movie. Not only that but I usually provide a pre and a post state Not only that but I usually provide a pre and a post state for each and every exercise. for each and every exercise. So for example, this is what things will look like So for example, this is what things will look like before you do any work within that movie before you do any work within that movie and here's what things will look like after and here's what things will look like after you've done the work. you've done the work. So everything is self contained, just follow So everything is self contained, just follow that exercise file structure. that exercise file structure. Again, it does start with chapter four Again, it does start with chapter four because one through three do not use these exercise files because one through three do not use these exercise files Chapter one is just a general informational chapter Chapter one is just a general informational chapter on what's new content. on what's new content.
