Using software to generate transcripts
- Another option to create a transcript is to use software. There are really two major different approaches here, and I'd like to go over each briefly. First up, you can use transcription software. This is software that's designed to be used as a tool to help you transcribe. Typically it has playback controls, allowing you to adjust the speed of the file. Features things like auto-correct, and auto completion shortcuts for frequently used words. And a lot of these can also read in the time code, so as you create the transcript it will recognize embedded time code in the clip and allow you to attach that to the transcript. The other type of software that's available tends to be a speech to text engine. This allows you to recognize words, and some of the tools can be trained to better recognize a particular voice.
