From the course: Creating a PSA Commercial

Welcome

- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington, and welcome to this course. We're gonna explore making a commercial. Now, in this course we're gonna take an in-depth look at a real world project. My visual communications company, RHED Pixel, frequently works on commercials and public service announcements often for non-profit groups, and that's exactly what we're going to take a look at here. A real world project with all of the intricacies. Now, typically, video projects are divided into three stages. Pre-production, which is the planning and design stage. Production, where we do all of the shooting, and acquisition of original footage. And post-production, where the pieces are all put together. And as such, that's how this course is going to be organized. Now, I'm super excited because it's not often that we can bring people on set, but we had a great client who was willing to let us document the project, as well as share the footage with you. So, you're gonna see what happens on a real set. We were location shooting for two full days, and during that time we went through a lot of different scenarios. We were shooting in one location for a lot of different set ups to really put together a full spot. A 60, a 30, and a 15-second national TV commercial. I think you're gonna enjoy this process, and if you've never actually been on a professional set, well, this will open up a lot of ideas. And if you're a working professional, I'll still share with you a lot of insights, and things that get the job done a little bit faster, and can also save you some money. So, with that in mind, let's begin to explore a real world commercial.
