What is Dynamic Link?
- Before we start to explore specific techniques, I think it's a good idea to cover what exactly is Dynamic Link? Now, Dynamic Link has been around for a long time for several versions of Premiere and After Effects. In fact it's one of the key reasons that brought me to the Adobe Workflow. What I like is the ability to intelligently hand files off from one app to the other. Now you can simply copy and paste between Premiere and After Effects, but this isn't Dynamic Link. That's just moving media. Dynamic Link actually creates a "Link", a live connection between the two apps. This means that if you're in Premiere Pro you can automatically create a new After Effects composition that matches the specs, the size and frame rate that you need. When you switch over to After Effects, you can then populate that composition and close the project. If you or somebody else open's up that After Effects project and makes a change, it automatically updates in the Premiere Pro timeline. And that's…
