What is a curve?

- A powerful adjustment for both photography and video is curves. Curves allows you to make gradual changes. Rather than using sliders with predefined ranges, a curve let's you define your own range. Let's go the project panel and go up a level, and we'll go down to bin four and hold down the modifier key, and double click. Let's start with sequence four dot one, and I'll click the sequence menu here, and close the other timeline panels. If we take a look at this, you'll see a before clip, and an after clip. If you look at the adjustment, you'll see the change. Let's double click here. In this case, a curve has been applied. You'll see that a small change has happened in the footage. Essentially, the lower end is the black point, and the higher end is the white point. Here's the mid tones. You'll notice the curve offers a grid. Ideally, if you add a point, you'll keep it in the same, relative position as you drag up. Otherwise, you can introduce shift in the color. So, let's take the…
