What you learn in this course

- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. And welcome to this course where we're going to explore the multi-camera editing process with Adobe Premiere Pro. We've got a lot of different areas to cover, but it's a pretty straightforward workflow. What you're going to learn in this course is how to approach multi-camera productions. I'll give you a high-level overview of what you need to understand about the production process so you can succeed during post. There is a dedicated title that I produced that goes much deeper into production techniques, but it is important to understand where multi-camera footage comes from and how this can effect the edit. We'll then move on to a little bit of organizing and pre-processing the media to make it easier to edit the multi-camera sequences. Then we'll talk about syncing strategies. And this is where it gets a little bit tricky because there are so many different ways of doing it. Everything from the truly professional, a jam-sync Timecode, where all the cameras are perfectly lined up, to using audio or visual cues. We'll then also talk about the multi-camera monitor panel. This is where you really control things, and you do need to set up Premiere Pro a little bit to take advantage of this great toolset. And then I'll walk you through some basic strategies for editing multi-camera sequences, as well as how to export them by flattening the sequence and making it a little bit easier for playback or other types of edits. Now, there are a lot of things to cover, but I want to tell you a little bit about my background and how it relates to multi-camera editing. I actually began my career directing newscasts and worked with multi-camera productions every day for many years. I've also worked on live events, corporate events, and concerts. So I have an extensive background in live production and multi-camera production. So this is very natural to me, and I'm going to try to pass on this information to you. I've also put a lot of this material into books and other video courses. And video and photography are my two main passions. I do provide consulting services to a wide range of television networks. So, again, this is something that I have good experience in, and I will be able to help you really wrap your head around multi-camera productions in Premiere Pro so you can quickly edit and get the best-looking content. Okay, let's go ahead and get started.
