Why legalize?

- The process of legalizing your video signal is a final pass to make sure that there's no problems. Now, along the way, we've been paying attention to scopes and looking for areas where the colors got too intense, or the exposure too bright or too dark. The reason why we want to fix this is that it can cause problems when the video is delivered. Traditional broadcasters have certain standards. They expect that the video that they air, or broadcast, is going to be a certain quality. This is both for consistency, but there is an actual technical reason as well. You see, a video that gets too bright can actually produce audible noise when transmitted. And if we have colors that are too intense, they could start to band or posturize, leading to a loss of image quality. There are certain engineering standards that we've grown up with that are expected within these post-production and delivery pipelines.
