- [Instructor] I'd like to go over the basics of video and audio transition effects. Now, far and away, the most popular transition you'll use is the dissolve. So, let's review the logistics of the dissolve and then we'll delve a little deeper. I have a clip here and it contains married video and audio. And when I select the edge of it, and press Shift + D, then I get a cross dissolve added to my video, and a constant power audio cross-fade added to my audio. If I have a clip that contains just video, and I press Shift + D, then I just get my dissolve, and if I have a clip that contains just audio, and press Shift + D, then I just get my audio cross-fade. So in that sense, Shift + D basically adds the default transition to whatever you have selected. Either video, audio or video and audio together.
