The common media folder

- The common media folder is a technique that I developed with my friend Robbie Carman. He's a fellow author here in the on-line library. Robbie and I were working on a book called Video Made on a Mac and we were interested in making Adobe apps work with Apple apps. And what we discovered was we needed to keep an organized hard drive. Well, this technique also comes in handy for just about any video editor. But it's particularly useful when using Dynamic Link. Let me show you an example. In the downloaded exercise files, I've given you a template called Common Media Folder. Now you'll ultimately customize this to your own needs but this is a sample. First up is the Capture Scratch folder. In here you'll put either captured files, if you're digitizing with a capture board from tape, or perhaps camera originals. This could be disk images or the transferred files. Next are your Project Files. And I recommend having a folder for each of the major applications you're going to use. Perhaps…
