- [Instructor] In this tutorial we're going to talk about the actual workflow when working as an editor. We'll dig into each step in this process more as we go through this course, so consider this just an overview. The role of the editor often starts on set in production. The editor can ensure that there is enough coverage and on some films they can actually start editing as soon as the first shoot date is complete. The editing process in most modern workflows starts by transferring the footage to a computer. This is call off loading media. This is usually done on set by someone called a data wrangler. Once the footage is on the computer the first thing that is done by either the editor or an assistant editor is to organize the medial so that it's easier to edit. Now this is time consuming but unless your film is just a few seconds long it's way worth the effort in the long run.
