Paper shades and colors
- Today I would like to help you understand the impact of paper color on a printed project. Think about paper as the foundation of your design. And how unlike a computer monitor, it can be used to enhance or amplify photographic images, typography and illustration. After all, in the world of paper, there are literally thousands of choices ranging from dazzling white to midnight black with a stunning array of vibrant and subtle colors in between. There are three primary ways that paper are classified for color and shade. First is brightness which is a common classification for white papers and determined by objective, scientific measurements. Next is shade, also a white paper classification, which tends to be a bit more objective placing papers on a spectrum of warm to cool. Third and entirely objective, but super fun to choose from is color. From soft pastels to vibrant primaries and rich, dark hues, this is where the material you choose can play a central role in a printed piece. So…
