Adding spring reverb to guitar parts

- [Larry] For electric guitar mixes, I find that spring reverb effects, whether real or plugin-generated can help bring out guitar parts in subtle ways. Plus it can help the mix feel more dynamic and interesting. On this song, we have two different guitar parts panned left and right. (upbeat rock music) There's more of a rhythm on the left and a chimey guitar on the right, as you can hear. The left guitar breaks into a solo at one part in the middle and you can even see where it gets louder. (upbeat rock music) So the first thing I'll do is to make copies of both guitar tracks. (clicking) I use these only as effects syn tracks, and I'll put a spring reverb plug-in on both, set at 100% wet. (clicking) Then I cut up the tracks and I mute sections that I don't want reverb on. Now I'll work the overall reverb level into the mix. Let's try the beginning here. (upbeat rock music) The solo. Coming up is the altra. Turn that section up. Clicking.
