Adjusting muddy, tubby, or woofy mid-range bass tones
- [Instructor] A request could come in for more definition in the bass. So we're going to talk about bass tones right now. And sometimes that request for definition that a person might make, could be interpreted as putting more of a point on the bass. So I've chosen a live bass guitar here, again, in the song "Stupid For You" by Waterparks. Here's what the song sounds like. ("Stupid For You" by Waterparks) So this bass has a nice point on it already, but I can show you how to accent it. Let's solo it for a second. First thing I would look at, if I were to be dealing with a DI and an amp signal for a bass, is the blend between the two. So one might have more point already naturally than the other, let's see if that's the case here. Here's the DI. Quite a lot of point there already. Now here's the amp. In spite of the added warmth, there's still some click in there, but what can we do to really make it more defined? Well, we could turn up the DI, but that adds just the right amount of…
