- [Instructor] No matter what the genre of song, our ears are always attracted to a snare that's powerful and forceful. There's a way to make that happen with a very non-standard reverb algorithm. First of all, let's listen to the song. (rock music) Okay, so the snare sounds pretty good. (snare drumming) And if we add reverb to it, let's hear what happens. (snare drumming) Now this is our hall, and let's go to something else. Let's go to like a medium plate and hear it. (rock music) Okay, it gives us some ambience, but it doesn't really add to the power. There is an algorithm that we can use that does, and that's what they call the non-linear. Basically what that is, is an unnatural reverb. It's unnatural in that it can't be found in nature, and what it is is basically reverb without much of a tail. It's engineered ambience, but this works great on a snare drum. Have a listen. (rock music) You can hear what happened. It got a lot bigger, yet the reverb didn't sound like reverb because…
