- [Instructor] I want to read another note to you. This note says, "Maybe paste a symbol on the downbeats "of all of the bars of the last chorus of the song. "And could you add a tambourine on just that last chorus? "Something subtle, but playing the accents on two and four." So, I've consolidated it since I did that note, but this is a typical thing you can do to augment a mix, and you can do it before you get the note, as long as you feel like you've got a producer and band that are willing to listen to changes. Otherwise, I'm a little cautious when it comes to changing something basic about the recorded material I get. But here's this last chorus. I found a section of the song where he was playing the cymbal crashes on the downbeats, and I added a tambourine. Here it is. ("Royal" by Waterparks) Hear that cymbal? Nothing like cymbal crashes to accent and give energy to a live drum track. So augmenting the production sometimes is a mixer's job, I feel. And it can be subtle or it can…
