The CS80 interface

- [Instructor] When the CS-80 was first released it was very different than many other synthesizers of its time. It uses two independent generators of subtractive synthesis, each with one oscillator, a filter, and an amplifier. The two lines of synthesis are managed by the central part of the interface in parallel groups. Let's take a look. I'm on our default preset here, and we have our oscillator settings and we can change the wave form. Then we have our filter section moving over to the right for each oscillator and by the way we can sync up these oscillators. So oscillator sync can be a really nice thing to have and could make for in some cases a fatter sound. Then to the right of that, we have our voltage-controlled amplifier. And then finally, we have our output controls. So one thing I want to point out here is that there's buttons in the middle and what those are going to do is essentially create variations of each preset.
