- [Voiceover] I really love old-school, cheesy, analog drum machines like this one here. (drum beats) Really cool, it's an old court drummer, that's the name of it, a little tiny box I bought down in Austin, Texas one time. I love using that instead of a metronome track, for a drummer to listen to, and other times we'll build a song around it you know, use the kinda cool retro tone for the basis of a song, and add stuff to it. But a lot of times that sound is a little less than what I wanted in the track, I want a little more excitement, and a little more life, you know, this is plugged straight into a DI box, and kinda dry. One of the things I do a lot, which is really fun, is to take this sound, record it or play it, and run it through some speakers or amplifiers in my live room in my studio, and then record that, and here's an example I did where I used some stereo mics across the room from a stereo set of speakers that we have for playback in the live room.
