- [Instructor] There are times when the overhead tracks sound great but there's just too much darn snare in them. This track will help you get control of the leakage for a much tighter sound. So first thing, let's listen to just the overheads and listen to the leakage that's coming in mostly from the snare. (drum music) The snare is almost as loud as the cymbals which is something that we don't want. But we can get that under control. And the first thing we do is add a compressor. The other trick here is, we want to key it from the snare drum just like we've done before. But first of all, let's get control of the sound for a bit. (drum music) I'm just gonna leave it like that for now and now we're gonna go and select our key buss. And it happens to be number seven. As you can see over here off of our snare, we're keyed off of number seven. First of all we have to insert it. (drum music) Now we can actually get the compressor to work a little bit.
